State v. Wolfe, 5th Dist. Licking No. 16-CA-43, 2017-Ohio-1326. One Defendant transferred a puppy to the other Defendant (whom she did not know and simply saw walking down the street) in a grocery bag. The dog was subsequently found in the grocery bag behind a store. They were both found guilty under R.C. 959.01.
2015
State v. Hull, 9th Dist. Wayne No. CRB-13-10-01834, 2015-Ohio-4001. Defendant was found guilty for neglecting his dogs under R.C. 959.131(C)(2) because he did not feed or water them. However, Defendant was found not guilty under R.C. 959.01, because this was not considered an “abandonment” of the dogs.
2014
State v. Amos, 5th Dist. Ashland No. 14-COA-01, 2014-Ohio-3097. Defendant had a stray and unwanted cat living under her porch. She trapped the animal and released it by the dumpster of a Veterinary Clinic. She was convicted under R.C. 959.01 for abandoning the animal.
